Probably my favorite variation of this workout is one set of 1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2,1 with half the rest as the rep. For example, 1 min "on" 30 sec rest, two minutes on with one minute rest etc. On the bike, it's easier in a way, at least physically, but, more often than not, I end up doing 5, 4, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1 instead of the ladder type workout. I think I'm afraid if I don't get the longer ones out of the way, I'll skip them entirely or something. But these days, everything is kind of slow, so it's more of an effort in concentrating for the duration of the hard parts and fucking off during the slow parts.
