Jesse Singal and Alex Berenson are post-prime, one-trick Substack ponies baring their biases and unreliability
Concerning Israel, these two are no more evidence-based than Haaretz, the Jerusalem Post, or Fox News
Singal spent much of his early Substack life systematically debunking some of the absurd research papers churned out by pro-transgender ‘scientists” intent on “proving” various patently false claims about human biology. In many cases, the methodology of these papers was so patently broken that even a Stats 101 student would have stood a reasonable chance of catching the errors. With good reason, Singal often seemed startled that these papers had even passed peer review. What he didn’t understand then—and I didn’t either—is that even the most prestigious medical journals had been completely captured by outside money by 2020 and that joke-science—biological, climatological, and sociological—was already by then the norm.
I now completely understand the capture of all pertinent Western institutions by evil actors, but Singal clearly does not. In fact, he’s out to lunch on a lot of stuff, all of it more important in the overall scheme than the banalities of transgenderism. He never really stopped being a libtard except in one reputationally risky but ultimately lucrative area.
I stopped reading Singal when he published “Vaccine Hysteria Is Getting So Bad, And Fighting It Feels So Futile” on January 11, 2023. In this post, he mentioned an “evidence-free rumor…which appeared to cause even The New York (freaking) Times to spread some fake news.” This was two strikes at once for Singal, as only committed fools still believed as recently as a year ago either that the covid shots were not as dangerous as “the right-wing fever swamps” were claiming or that fake news in The New York Times was a bug and not a feature. (Actually, make that three strikes for Singal’s incorrect use of “which,” which is admittedly a mistake which that which that even generally on-the-ball writers often make in their haste to please their readers.)
Because I haven’t looked at Singal’s site since realizing he’s a dingbat overall, I hadn’t noticed until this past week that he’s also either deluded or lying—and I like to believe it’s the first, but I’m no mind-reader—about the slaughter being carried out by Israel against Palestinian people in both Gaza and the West Bank that everyone outside the United States and Israel recognizes as the most patent and unapologetic atrocity of their lifetimes.
On October 9, Singal led off a post titled “Not Defending Hamas Is A Very, Very Low Bar For Decent Humans To Clear” with this passage:
I have effectively nothing productive to say about the catastrophe that has occurred, and that will soon get much worse, in Israel and Gaza. My own conflicted, and generally underinformed, views of the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict are totally irrelevant at the moment.
As Singal would soon quickly and repeatedly demonstrate, he should have ended the post there, and for me it did end there, as the remainder was paywalled. Singal should have listened to his own conscience telling him to hold off on judgment and that whatever he, an eager consumer of openly state-controlled outlets such as The New York Times, was watching on the media was terrifically one-sided at best and most often outright fiction.
One week later, in an article titled “Racial And Ethnic Essentialism Make Everything Worse, Israel/Palestine Edition,” Singal referred to (oomphases mine) “ridiculous online takes that have been generated by the massacre and by Israel’s subsequent reprisal attacks.” This wondrously unironic observation demonstrated that Singal hadn’t spent any of the past seven days bolstering his “generally underinformed, views of the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
At the end of the month, in part one of “Your October Questions, Answered,” Singal, in replying to a reader who had asked him if he declined invitations by high-profile but ewwwww icky media outlets, commented on his appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience:
I wasn’t not going to go on Joe Rogan. I’d go on Joe Rogan again. But I really didn’t like the way he had soft-pedaled and excused Alex Jones, who is a longtime friend of his, but who is also genuinely one of the most pernicious figures in English-speaking media.
Alex Jones will live in unvarnished infamy for his blaring and soulless comments about the December 2012 Sandy Hook, Connecticut mass shooting that killed 26 people, but he’s a lot more informed about literally everything of importance than Jesse Singal—feigning faint radicalism but conspicuously out to please his anti-Wokish but still overwhelmingly libtarded pro-establishment readers—ever will.
In part two of “Your October Questions, Answered,” Singal fielded two Israel-Palestine questions from readers. Here are snippets of these:
how has the left-wing embrace of Hamas caused you to reconsider who you consider as allies? Even those who are normally opposed to identity politics and with whom you often relate (for instance, Freddie deBoer) have toed the line of outright anti-Zionism…
Are you upset at all [by] the genocide apologia in this AMA? Like I totally get being angry about antisemitism — my grandfather had his grave desecrated by Nazis in 2016 — but this heterodox embrace of Zionism and its consequences is stunning and abhorrent. What Hamas did is unspeakably evil FOR SURE, and many on the left didn’t immediately condemn it (but many also did!), but Netanyahu’s retaliation has killed SIX THOUSAND CHILDREN. Babies! Not to mention the ongoing treatment of Palestinians preceding (and precipitating. . . ) the attacks. Calling a spade a spade isn’t antisemitism, which is why thousands of American Jews are occupying public spaces and calling for a cease-fire.
Most of Singal’s response is behind a paywall, but he starts by defending his commenters and diving straightaway into both-siderism:
The problem with this conversation is that everything is so high stakes, involving thousands of deaths of innocent people, that the mere suggestion that things have gotten rhetorically overheated generates some understandably angry responses.
A decent person would have agreed that the genocide of innocent people is abhorrent no matter who they are. But instead, he chose to observe that “people say things.” As for the person who complained about people toeing the line of anti-Zionism, the proper response to that is “Some Americans, believe it or not, aren’t fond of narcissistic murder-cultists who invoke cutthroat grievance politics to protect their global network of extortion-based mega-rackets,” but I doubt Singal approximated this or any related sentiment in his paywalled comments.
On December 8, Singal achieved an even higher irony score by titling an article “Just Stop Issuing Statements About Everything All The Time.” This was primarily about Planned Parenthood, and included a statement by that organization that included a widely circulated falsehood about members of Hamas sexually assaulting Israel women during the October 7 attack. Singal wrote:
a bunch of people are mad at Planned Parenthood about this statement, in some cases for silly online reasons, such as the grotesque denial that Hamas committed acts of rape during the attack (would that mark the first time in recorded history young men rampaging and killing their way through the territory of their enemy didn’t rape women? Historians, chime in on this cheerful question in the comments section!)
Singal was not entirely without empathy for Palestinians, however. He noted “the present plight of the Palestinians getting displaced and battered relentlessly within Gaza” and observed that “the Gazan healthcare system, depending on who you ask, is either on the verge of collapse or already has collapsed, and pregnant Palestinian women trapped there are presently — this is the medical term for it — pretty fucked.”
Depending on who (and actually, it’s “whom”) you ask? Does he think that purposefully destroyed hospitals are expected to continue operating normally and that anyone who says rubble makes for a suboptimal healthcare-delivery system is lying? Jesse Singal is, to put it medically, “pretty fucked” in the head.
On December 14, in “On Failing To Bear Witness,” Singal describes declining an invitation from a Ziopathic chum to go watch doctored footage of the October 7 events:
I don’t want to watch men and women and children get murdered by terrorists enthralled by their own depravity. It would be a deeply unpleasant experience and would probably burn certain images into my brain that I would prefer not be there. I’ve been offered a glimpse — a two-dimensional glimpse from thousands of miles away, but a glimpse nonetheless — of what it’s like to live in close proximity to an enemy that wants to kill you, and to then experience, basically, the unspeakable nightmare of that enemy gaining direct access to you and your loved ones.
If members of Hamas can be classified as terrorists, and I’ll even throw in “war criminals” for fun, then so can the entire Israeli Defense Forces. So can the Israeli government, most of the Israeli media, Mossad, and the various Ziopathic snakes operating within the bloodthirsty U.S. Government and directing its de facto state-run media.
Singal may not be very good at math, or perhaps he doesn’t care that Palestinian people are just as terrified as Israelis at an enemy that unabashedly wants to kill them and has direct access to their homes because Israel has maintained Gaza as an open-air prison for decades.
Alex Berenson of
is another high-traffic Substacker (over 247,000 subscribers) who is out to lunch on the topic of Israel. He is far more of a gibbering idiot than Singal and as such presents a simpler case of flat-out bad journalism, or more specifically praising the most egregious example of sham journalism imaginable.Berenson’s nom de plume is being booted from Twitter for posting “covid misinformation” in the platform’s pre-Elon Musk era, successfully suing to be reinstated on the platform, and now suing the Biden Administration. While Berenson was tenacious in his reporting about the hazards of the covid “vaccines,” a lot of it was sloppy and included instances of being right for the wrong statistical reasons. Berenson also railed against marijuana on an episode of Rogan’s podcast, where his statements about the hazards of THC made him sound apocalyptically stoned.
On December 29, Berenson published an article titled “On the sexual atrocities Hamas committed on Oct. 7.” The piece opens with these passages:
On Thursday, The New York Times recounted in awful detail the sexual atrocities the men of Gaza committed during Hamas’s October 7 raid into Israel.
I know Jeffrey Gettleman, who had the piece’s lead byline. He is a serious reporter who served with distinction for many years in Africa. He doesn’t exaggerate.
Mr. Berenson puked all over his keyboard twice with just these four sentences. Not only does Berenson propagate a lie, he even praises gibbering Ziopath Jeffrey Gettleman, who does not merely exaggerate but lies throughout the piece Berenson treats as serious journalism.
In a December 30 post, I linked to a long video by The Grayzone I’m sure no one or almost no one watched. That long video is now available on YouTube in segments. One of these segments, embedded below, debunks Gettleman’s propaganda-shart—which anyone reading with a critical eye can see the problems with, but devoted NYT readers by definition don’t possess critical eyesight—with prejudice.
More details have emerged exposing the story as fraudulent. In another long The Grayzone video, this one posted Friday, Max Blumenthal and Aaron Mate revisited the sham story and also discussed their own targeting by an enfeebled Ziopathic “reporter” with The Washington Post.
The fellas start discussing the story’s collapse and the callous machinations that drove it about 1:24:00 into the presentation. But if videos aren’t your thing, tweets, or whatever these outbursts are now called, might be.
It remains an ongoing source of irritation that I can repeatedly post evidence that the mainstream media lie nonstop while supplying alternative, evidence-based sources of information, only to have people ignore these sources and pepper the comments or in my inbox with angry nonsense that they only could have picked up from a cable news outlet.
I am not trying to start a fight with anyone. I am trying to help people become marginally less retarded and annoying, although alleviating the one doesn’t always appreciably mitigate the other.
Even the media (at least outlets owned by billionaire sleazelord Pierre Omidyar) are admitting that the American media lie at the behest of the Israeli government. This seems extreme even for a domestic media long understood to be completely in the throes of chronic, unrelenting Ziospasm.
But even without this latest ugliness, I’ve already provided more than enough evidence that Ziopaths exist to be the worst people imaginable so they can gloat and snicker about it between bouts of the public fainting vapors over being singled out for harassment. They lie, cheat, and steal, and to make themselves even more odious, Israels blow up everything with (American-provided) drones. This is because Israel military personnel are “casualty averse,” i.e., apparently useless in hand-to-hand combat. Dirty fighters, and proudly so.
This would scale with their comments toward women they don’t like. Here’s unusually livid and brain-damaged Ziopath Matthew Brodsky, a former adviser to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggesting that Briahna Joy Gray of The Hill be raped to death.
My main concern here is that Ziopathic forces have essentially started World War III. Those can’t-stop-won’t-stop death-and-misery-merchants decided to set off some explosives at a funeral for a very popular figure in Iran, which has the power to annihilate Tel Aviv and just might wind up doing it if they decide things have reached the point where we’re all going to die anyway.
It would be nice if every American Ziopath could be given a one-way ticket to Ben Gurion Airport and barred from ever returning from the United States (after their bank accounts are drained of all their stolen and button-created digital wealth) and every Israeli citizen could be prevented from entering the country (except through its southern border, which should of course remain open forever to one and all). They can take all eight marvelously befouled Ivy League institutions with them, along with their graduate schools. These people are sick, and in the perfect touch of morbid hilarity, the ones operating in the U.S. are pretending their censorship campaigns are about keeping people’s feelings from getting hurt.
Ziopaths are morally dilapidated, grudge-driven primates nourished on racism, victimhood, avarice, and hate who would be happy to live in subterranean bunkers after they rest of us are incinerated thanks to their ultra-high-stakes tribalist monkeyshines. And Singal and Berenson are not the only high-profile Substackers busy crankily boning the neighbor’s Dachshund on this one.
