I see a distant correlation to women's pro running contracts, specifically with someone like Camille Herron. She knew all terms of her Nike contract before signing it. She collected her paychecks with some good and some bad results. Then she moved on and joined Hoka apparently to appear progressive for women. Because men's contracts and women's contracts have such a grave pay scale difference according to her. An opportune time to identify as the victim of intentionally signing a contract (US Women's Soccer Team, anyone?) Which, conveniently, Camille can't share the details for all to validate because it was non-disclosure. So she's a victim on her own terms at any time it fits whatever narrative she wants to portray.

My bet is the college athletes knew of the expectations, and by what means those expectations would be met. Sure, an 18 year old isn't even close to being matured. But I'd like to see this subject dissected.

Camille is truly one of a kind, even apart from her amazing accomplishments in ultramarathons.

1) I have no idea how anyone can run with that much hair flopping around for even a mile, much less hours, almost days on end. She should be paid extra just for that, or perhaps penalized whimsically.

2) The combination of being that good at ultras and that protective of her "conventional" PRs is really weird.

3) Her old blog was great. The race reports were so loaded with advance excuses for failing that you would have thought you were reading some midpacker's blog -- and that was for the races that had gone well! I drew a perverse lesson from that: You can succeed even on days where you've given yourself a dozen off-ramps to Bad Race Junction. Or at least some people can.

Thrice-annual DEXA scans?? Don't know if that is a good idea considering the X is for X-ray. May be low-dose X-rays, but X-rays nonetheless.
