As a concerned ally of social justice
And everything else you supposedly value
Dear Stewards of the Instagram Account “@feminist”:
As a champion of fairness, two-way dialogue, and free speech and freedoms generally, this post concerns me for numerous reasons, all of which relate to how the post undermines of your own alleged mission: To get people to willingly join the religious cult broad social movement known as “intersectional feminism.”
Although these bugbears are immediately evident to sane observers, they seem to have eluded you wholesale, so I will point these out in the hope you remedy them so that you can support your stated cause(s) more effectively.
For one thing, suggesting that those who believe males should be excluded from sports set aside for females are motivated by an “ick” factor—that they just don’t like the mere sight of trans people—looks even from outer space like an ill-concealed dodge.
To briefly review reality, the chief complaint from the folks you roundly call "transphobes"—which, by the way, might strike some people as both illogical and a slur, especially given that some trans people qualify—is that allowing males into female sports is provably unfair to female athletes. You seem reluctant to acknowledge this reality for some reason, even though it is coming at you very loudly and clearly from every direction.
Indeed, claiming that this beef is about how trans people look looks alarmingly like another version of "You're denying trans people the right to exist.” When I first thought in detail about that accusation—which, by the way, you should also do at some stage—it just seemed weird. Then I realized that you seem to think that part of the mission of genuine fairness advocates includes somehow eliminating all images, written and typed words, videos, entire entertainment platforms, and so on associated with transgender people. I’m a fairness advocate, and I have never called for anything to be censored.
This assumption makes a macabrely perfect kind of sense: What I just described is precisely the approach of the Wokish people, who are not advocates of fairness but insane, surly, gaslighting bigots. They seek to cancel everything in sight, because they represent a blend of terrible and gullible people fomenting a destructive, self-dealing movement intended from the start to demolish, not “fix,” institutions established on liberal feminist principles and liberalism generally.
You do want to be associated with champions of fairness who talk about facts as they settle their differences with others, correct? Not with bigotry and madness and verbal grenade-tossing?
For another thing, I couldn’t help but notice that you are filtering comments on that post. At some level, you must be able to appreciate that, combined with the words you added to the post image, this all but invites the reply “if seeing non-approving comments makes you uncomfortable, you're the problem” (snicker optional) from transphobes, logicians, and other skeptics of your mission. After all, no one wants to display cowardice and hypocrisy—both signature traits of Wokism, and not attributes likely to help with your recruitment efforts (assuming you’re serious about those).
For yet a second other thing, in awarding yourself the mantle of “feminist(s),” you are obligated to represent or at least acknowledge the interests of all women, not just the male ones. Otherwise, you might as well change the name of your account to “@selectivefeminist,” or better yet, “@antifeminist.” You could even just go with “@wehatesuccessfulwomen,” but even if you are secretly Wokish, it might be unwise to throw your whole strategy into the open at once—especially given how much you’ve already unintentionally (I think!) revealed with this post.
I would ask you to consider one more thing. You do know that fairness advocates are okay with the psychologically ameliorative play-acting by trans people in most situations, right? That most people don’t care what you choose to call yourself in scenarios in which no cost is incurred to others? Our sole concern is not letting the Wokish enjoy their dream of incinerating whatever nice things they can gain control of by sheer intimidation, deceit, and censorship. They hate aspects of themselves, which is common, but they also take their insecurities out on everyone else and break every moral and ethical convention in the process, which is not, and is behavior we should discourage.
Imagine what happens when a 45-year-old transwoman shows up to the emergency room complaining of low abdominal pain, and lab work shows a PSA of 15 ng/mL. Do you think it would be wise for either the patient or the medical professionals in charge of this patient to explore the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy or ovarian cancer in this scenario? Or is a rectal exam or an ultrasound possibly in order? Please don’t pretend you can relegate such events to the realm of the theoretical—we know doctors, PAs, and NPs who see these people.
You do want trans people to receive proper healthcare, right?
And flipping things around a bit, do you suppose transmen convicted of felonies should have to serve out their sentences in men’s prisons, in accordance with their chosen identities? (You may not believe that trans people commit crimes. They do.) In fact, do you think that this should be allowed even if the transmale desires it? How do you suppose that would go?
You do hate violence against trans people…right?
It just seems that you haven’t done a great deal of honest thinking about any of this, or anything else about the shared reality we live in. This in turn has left you dependent solely on a strategy that only works in a broken system, and some people want that system to operate as smoothly as possible for everyone living their lives within it.
Sincerely,
