Brief addendum to this morning's Alano Club post
Making it easier for poor, mostly brown people to obtain and self-inject lethal drugs sends a pretty obvious message
This morning, investigative reporters Michael Shellenberger and Leighton Woodhouse reported that the U.S. Department of Justice is considering allowing “supervised drug consumption sites” in response to a Philadelphia group petitioning for the dubious privilege of operating such a site.
These are places where “taxpayer-funded healthcare workers assist anyone over the age of 18 to inject or smoke fentanyl and other hard drugs.” Such places already exist in American communities like New York City’s Harlem neighborhood and San Francisco’s Tenderloin district. The results have been what any sensible ten-year-old would predict.
If the DoJ accedes to the Philadelphia group, then other cities will follow. And the predominant inhabitants of America’s inner cities are not Raytheon executives, Goldman Sachs boardroom regulars, or MAGA Republicans.
The Public story is mostly paywalled, but includes this:
Around the world, when supervised drug-use sites operate within systems that promote addiction maintenance instead of addiction recovery, open-air drug dealing, drug use, and overdose deaths all increase. Why, then, is President Biden seriously considering legalizing them?
Because Biden and his advisers are either dumber than children, out of their minds, negligent to the point of evil, or actually evil.
That’s all.
