Why is he always talking about how horrible ultra races are, how they chew you up and spit you out, wreck you body, mind, and soul? People get that they're hard, but as the critic pointed out, people who enter ultras can be satisfied by reaching various goals and wouldn't run them otherwise. what happened to enjoying the process, too?

Regarding the "no injury limitation" followed by "very low injury risk" comments, any repetitive motion can cause injury (carpal tunnel), and bikers experience overuse injuries just like any other athlete, especially injuries related to knee, back, hips, and feet. Bike crashes aside (I saw a terrible head injury after two cyclists collided), bursitis and Achilles tendonitis are actually rather common biking injuries. These articles could really benefit from more research and some serious editing. I just don't understand why anything goes these days and opinion is continually trumps fact.

Is anyone going to address the "just lift shit" articles? Because Trail Runner and Women's Running both published articles recently on lifting weights for runners, and neither mentions anything about muscle activation, strength specificity, or structural strengthening. Again, a little research goes a long way.

Finally! For years I’ve found it vexing that he gets away with juvenile writing—that disrespects the intellect of his readers—and spouts excessive assumptions, untested hypotheticals posited as near-truths, and grammatical qualifiers that allow him to escape criticism for having been wrong. He uses his wife’s medical degree to buttress his lack of qualifications, and he makes claims that have been stolen from Twitter accounts he follows, but fails to notice context and/or bias. It’s nice to know other people recognize how awful his approach to writing and understanding science is.
