For the study on COVID vaccination status and traffic accidents, they did adjust for a large number of factors, including age. See: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9716428/

Although they adjusted for at least one psychological factor (depression), there are many other relevant psychological factors (such as risk-taking behavior) that they didn't adjust for, because they didn't have information about them. The first sentence of their Abstract is relevant and later they even say "A direct effect from immunization is unlikely; instead, diverse psychological factors contribute to vaccine willingness and driving safety ..." So, the headline "Do unvaccinated people need to be counseled to drive slower?" must be the media being stupid.
