According to the CDC, flu likely peaked somewhere around 11/30 (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm - see the two bar plots about 20% down the page). So why in the world did they start asking people to wear masks for a "tripledemic" on 12/13? In my area, the headlines that we were all "strongly recommended" to wear masks came on 12/10, when flu was already clearly on the decline. Covid has been low in most of the country for ages. Flu *did* start unusually early this year, but so far, the area under the curve appears entirely typical (see plot halfway down).

I'm just glad we live in a country where, unlike China, people like Elon Musk don't have "accidents" and end up dead.
