We do need to revisit “kindness.” There’s nothing kind about lying to someone or perpetuating a mental illness. It’s as unkind as telling an anorexic ‘yeah, you are kinda fat.’ My old high school driver’s ed teacher (a big black football coach) called it truthing in love. May be touchy feely, but a lot more accurate than pretending and bald-face lying about someone’s sex.
