Just when I had sort of made peace with the s**tshow running has become you have to go and write this. I suppose that the devolution of running in certain ways is a microcosm of our culture. It's disturbing in so may ways which you have elucidated so ably. Alas few understand and within seconds one is labeled a old cranky fart from yesteryear. I'm reminded of of the sage advice from an Olympian who frequently showed up for the Sunday long run-"Shut up and get your ass down the road". Anyway great read.
Just found your, um, blog I guess? Anyhow, I admire your efforts, and hope you don't tire from tilting at windmills soon. And you might be interested in reading this, the wokish overreaction to which made me decide to quit the running club I helped found 20 years earlier. https://www.y42k.com/2014/03/07/remember-the-69-9/
Love the “get off my lawn” vibe you are throwing! Wish I could be there to see what face you must make when you pull up next to a minivan with a 13.1 sticker on the rear window... I probably make the same one.
I'm trying to think of an occupation that you're naturally suited for. It's hard. I kind of thought that Kamikaze pilot could be a good fit but even that requires some affiliation to some sort of external entity so that doesn't quite work. And I say this with true admiration and appreciation.

You should have been around in the early 1960s. :)
