A few thoughts. 1- channel Alan Webb. He appears to be having a good time winning casual road races at much slower paces than he used to run. 2- Try a duathlon. If you don't have a bike, get one from Walmart. Biking will help you take the whole thing less seriously, and you'll pass lots of people during the run which is very satisfying. (Ask me how I know.) 3- Maybe a trail race. No time comparisons. 4- Of course you could just not race. My husband runs 360+ days a year and does not race, ever. I don't get it but it works for him. 5- Check out Spill, Simmer, Falter, Wither. Interesting book.

What brands of iron and vitamin C do you take? A few years ago my (then) PCP said my iron was borderline low and that I should take iron supplements. The ones I have tried have all messed with my intestines. My hemoglobin wasn't as low as 12.1 and has never been low enough that I have been turned away from donating platelets.
