Just an advisory: the NXN races are being livestreamed for free at noon Eastern Time
The series returns after a two-year absence, and almost everyone is there
RunnerSpace is streaming the Nike Cross Nationals today from Portland, Oregon (LINK).
The girls go off at 1:05 p.m. Eastern, the boys at 2:35 p.m. For those who don’t live in that time zone, don’t use clocks. or don’t like math problems, the action begins in less than 80 minutes from the time stamp of this e-mail.
New Hampshire Cross Country dot com has a write-up focusing on the three Granite State boys who qualified, and the site’s YouTube and Instagram channels are keeping up with their efforts and desultory encounters in Portland.
Tully Runners has a phenomenally data-driven preview of both races (it’s what they do). Dyestat also has boys’ and girls’ previews.
The Garmin RunningLane Championships seemed to retain almost none of the teams and runners it scooped up in the absence of the NXN series last fall, despite the offer of a lightning-fast course. Ordinarily I would rue Nike managing to come out on top of anything given a choice, but in this case, we* get to see almost everyone in one place.
I think the Niwot girls (competing as Niwot XC Club) will place second and be closer to the Kinetic Track Club (Saratoga Springs, New York) than most predictions have them. And the Newbury Park (California) boys will win by at least 80 points.
