I enjoy the really cold/abundant sunshine/little to no wind runs. Although little to no wind is rare. I do get more of a sense of "accomplishment" for a small mental boost. Whatever works.
"I proved a point" is more than adequate, as long as you're proving it to yourself. When the windchill was -33 last Saturday morning, I had a nice run, primarily because of thinking, "I'm 58, and I still do silly things like this. Good." (I ran again that afternoon, when the windchill was above zero, and it wasn't nearly as fun. It was just sorta cold.)
