On an unrelated note, I'm curious what you think of "cupless racing." My next half marathon just announced on FB: "You can feel super great about joining in on this one, too, as we continue to move towards reducing typical race waste by hosting a “cupless” event. BYO containers; and we’ll have huge jugs of Clear Alaskan Glacial Water to fill up from along the way." On their website, they helpfully suggest purchasing a hydration pack. I am personally extremely displeased, but the only response to the post, I think you would appreciate, is a suggestion to include a nonbinary gender option on the entrance form.
Good little rant. I'm left feeling queasy. I take solace in the idea of nature always batting last and remind myself of this when all the cool people start with the nonsense. It disappears like a puff of smoke on a windy day if/when natural disasters, pestilence and grinding hunger step up to the plate.
