In the past, the elite Bolder Boulder race started as the A wave and was early in the morning. Spectators lined the streets and filled the stadium. It has always been a major event. I haven’t run or attended the race in too many years to count, so maybe it’s different now and the spectators are, indeed, runners instead of the fans, family, and friends of those participating.

I used to love the course, especially the last hill into the stadium. Running it at around noon on hot days (after the switch in format) sort of took its toll, though. I remember one race in particular that ended with a bunch of the elite field dropping out. I finished but with a mess of blisters on my feet and a time much slower than my fitness level predicted.
