Agree with you. I live in Columbus and there are several female (and male) runners who mysteriously got faster the last few years. I don't want to say what I really think but going from 3:15 to mysteriously 3:05, in a year, esp. for a female I know, raises eyebrows! Another woman went from 3:20 to 3:05 and she is quite a bit older than me. But even those cases are not as bad as Ken Rideout, a 2:30 marathoner at 51...
There was some suspicion around Pricilla at the time when she was training in Boulder. Same with De Reuck, though not at the beginning of her career. I was naive to think distance runners were mostly clean, but doping wasn't something I could ever imagine doing. It didn't make sense to me that people could be that corrupt. I somehow imagined most distance runners to be more moral than the average person. I laugh looking back at how dumb that idea was.
