I'm from the generation of the life b/f the internet and where we are at today. I ran my first marathon in Santa Monica to celebrate my 26th birthday, etc. That's when we read actual newspapers and there was the "free press" in every city with the local stuff goings on. USPS was the conduit to entering, etc. It was life in all its messiness, politics was in the background, UC systems were the bastions of free speech, Rolling Stones were still topping the charts, and on and on. Your writing is spirited, unapologetic, and honest. A rare treat in this world. Thank you!

ps. It was more fun back then, the internet hasn't made life better. Peoples opinions have risen to the height of insanity, and hubris is considered a virtue.
