Much of what I think about when I think about the sport nowadays is about the disgust I feel for what it's become at the top levels and I wonder why I even pay attention anymore. But that disgust is counter balanced when I learn about people like Eric Morse or people's nephews who are having great running experiences at some small college somewhere. At other times I see photos of people like Jazy and Clarke and think about how cool it is that I got to know Ron a wee bit. And I really would prefer not to imagine he and Jazy on a modern track in some manufactured setting with fast shoes and pacing lights.
