Athing Mu is entered in the 1,500 meters at USATF Nationals, and is scheduled to run Heat 1 of the semifinal in about forty minutes. There are three semis, and the fastest three runners from each heat, plus the three fastest non-automatic qualifiers, will advance to Saturday’s 12-woman final.

I recently speculated that Mu is unlikely to be prepared for this undertaking:
I think she will eke into the final looking ragged, and that her core supporters, who pretend Bobby Kersee isn’t as dirty as can be, will pretend she was holding back. She will then be spanked in the final and may DNF.
I'm not rooting against her at all; she’s beautiful to watch and gracious when she speaks publicly. I just think she's a head case in the 1,500 meters and deeply under-raced not just in that event but overall. 5K and 10K runners can get away with that, but milers?
