If she’s not totally in on it (I only know of Snell through this blog so she may very well be), her sponsors are being much crueler to her than Nate or any other commenter. This is exactly what they want to happen every time she toes the line.
If you care about an athlete’s mental health don’t you put them in situations that are appropriate for their current fitness level??? Instead, I wouldn’t be surprised if her contract has bonuses for DNFs.
