I remember a quote from you years ago along the lines of, "Just out rubbing a few sticks together to see if I can get a fire going." This is basically the ritual, because if it takes 3 weeks or 6 months for that wicked hard run to appear out of no where, the one you are standing on the gas pedal and you don't crack. I'd run thousands of miles for just one of those days.

Then of course running can be like the movie Jaws. "Sometimes the shark he go away. Sometimes he don't." I'm not in it now for blue skies and wearing fancy shoes. It moved from beating people to how do I save enough for tomorrow. Doubles are gone since last year. My damn hip carriage would get so sore it was too many miles extra to run and loosen up.

My physical therapist has made me agree that once I have recovered from the current hamstring issue and am able to run again, I will take a day off running every week. I've still been walking, now with short jogging stretches thrown in, every day. Will I really take a day off? We'll have to wait and see.

Wait - there are still places in Colorado that make you mask? Hospitals and doctors offices haven't required this here for maybe 18 months or more. Only a few paranoid people wear masks anywhere here. Tallahassee is a majority Democrat, obese/comorbid town and almost nobody is doing this, which seems to suggest social rather than political reasons for keeping up this ineffectuve virtue signaling.
