What confuses me is why the CDC is pushing the vaccine so hard for younger age groups. The US is way out of family with the rest of the world in its recommendation for several age groups. The only other country that kind of aligns with the US is Canada, and even their recommendations are more tempered. (For example, Canada says 2-4 year olds "may" get a vaccination, but that they should wait 6 months after getting Covid. US says 2-4 year olds "should" get vaccinated and no waiting period after having Covid that I know of.)

6 months-4: US recommends 2-3 doses, rest of the world 0

5-11: US recommends 3 doses, rest of the world 2 or less

18-49: US recommends 4 doses, rest of the world 3 or less

50+: US more or less in line with many other countries (Some recommend a booster only at 65, but many at 50)

In any other country other than the US, all five people in my family would be "up-to-date" with our Covid vaccinations. In the US, we all require at least one more shot.

I do think getting vaccinated is a no-brainer for the elderly. I badger my 81 year old Dad who has a number of health issues until he gets every new shot.

At this point I'm surprised Wrigley hasn't come out with a Covid prevention chewing gum, or Phillip Morris with a Covid preventing cigarette.

Italy just released a study showing the latest variant is 40x less deadly. So it’s about as dangerous as the common cold.
