Okay so I started playing the bass guitar about 46 years ago. Well, a bit before that I'd pluck out bass lines to AM radio songs but I never handled a real bass until grade 11, and the first song I ever played was Pink Floyd's "Money". So that is my top pick for Floyd.

You probably know that Toto was the band behind Thriller. Some interesting stories there!

Jeff P. was a genius. The whole band was incredible, even then. Looking back that music is legendary. Your observation regarding fourth albums is interesting!

My favorite Toto song? Possibly Hold the Line, or Girl Goodbye...both had really cool guitar riffs and dynamics.

Music is fun, it's cool to hear your take on things in this regard!

Merry Christmas.

I have absolutely no musical talent -- cannot play a note or even sing more-or-less in tune, so can't comment about how difficult some pieces may be to play. But I like music from the era of my youth.

In terms of a whole album, Jethro Tull's Aqualung seems particularly well constructed, including the cover art. Ian Anderson has written many other numbers with interesting themes, such as the ode to working horses "Heavy horses" and he is a great showman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KVsmKNpEFQ

Three of the most moving numbers are Mark Knopfler's "Brothers in Arms" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vUDmFjWgVo, Uriah Heep's "Come Away Melinda" not a group one would expect this from) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmbw2RRGGbk, and The Hangman and the Papist by Strawbs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkVswDZxrr4.

My favourit album is the Dark Side of the Moon and for me the Time is the greatist song of the Pink Floyd.

There are at least two songs from Dark Side of The Moon that I would rank above those two songs, even though I think both are pretty incredible songs. Still, there’s something about the entire DSOTM album that makes each song elevated, even if you listen without playing the whole thing.

What a sad ending for Syd Barrett, one amazing musician.
