Especially bad day? I thought about sharing this with a select few of my like minded acquaintances, I think there's 2 or 1, but thought better of it. I'm afraid I'll hear nothing back and then that that nagging "why did I do that?" starts....Anyway, great over the top rant and I'm pretty sure you created a new word-cuntically- may try to add it to my inner lexicon.
" They are starting to find that not even the most energetic level of false advertising, from pulpits they control absolutely, is enough to suppress reality in the end. " I don't know. See the cultural revolution in China. I sufficiently authoritarian government can quell dissent an impose their own version of reality. I think it's TBD whether that can happen in the US.
As for the vaccine, I disagree that is hasn't been a success. It reduces risk of death from Covid dramatically. My Dad is 80, with comorbidities, like basically all 80 year olds (including you and I if we reach that age, thin or fat.) Being triple vaccinated, I'm not super worried about him and Covid at this point.
With that said, it's been a flat out lie to call breakthrough infections "rare" since long before Omicron, and in Seattle, pre-Omicron, up to 40% of deaths were among the vaccinated. AND in Seattle, we have the highest levels of hospitalization by more than a factor of two right now. So yeah. We're better off than we'd be without vaccines, but they're not enough. Is our current situation attributable to vaccines in any way? I don't know.
Sometimes I wonder if we're all going to die of a new variant of Covid that's highly contagious, vaccine resistant, and 100x more dangerous than the current versions. Or maybe not all, but a huge percentage of us, a la the Black Death.

Boom, mic drop, I would venture to say there are many people that would raise their hand in agreement with this article.
Reading this is as relaxing to me after a day at work as watching a few episodes of Dexter.
